Understand the hazards and controls in regards to storage, and handling of the compressed gas cylinders in the workplace. Understand the physical and chemical properties of commonly used hazardous gases in the workplace and the contents of Material Safety Data Sheet. Familiarisation with hazards associated with storage and handling of compressed gas cylinders and the necessary precautions to be observed. The trainees should administer the first aid effectively if there is an exposure to the hazardous gas. Also they should implement emergency response in the case of some emergencies such as gas leak and fires. The workers shall familiarise with manual handling hazards and proper lifting techniques by manual and mechanical methods, and the associated controls while handling the gas cylinders on site. They will become familiar with the types of explosions and their consequences. Identify the hazard symbols and different classes of hazardous substances as per the Globally Harmonised System (GHS), safe transportation of the hazardous materials.
